VIDEO: Disney "Secret World of Arrietty" Dub Preview

Bridgit Mendler voices Ghibli heroine

Disney's release of Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty hits North America February 17th. The movie was previously released in the UK with a different English dub—Americans will be hearing actress/singer Bridgit Mendler as Arrietty along with Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Carol Burnett, and David Henrie instead of Saoirse Ronan, Tom Holland, Mark Strong, Olivia Coleman, Phyllidia Law, and Geraldine McEwan.

The Hiromasa Yonebayashi directed movie, also known as Arrietty the Borrower, adapts Mary Norton's novel The Borrowers, about the little people secretly living in human dwellings.  Studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki wrote the film's script.

Kinda late on this one, its been out for a while now. but nonetheless im still excited for it.

I wish that the U.S. was not so afraid of subtitles though.
Well the US probably doesn't want to hear a "dirty jap" talking. That's the problem with the US... Racist motherfuckers.
Contradictory and stupid comment.
and yet another person who knows nothing of what they are talking about. Ignorant motherfucker
Agreed. Most American's are not racist like that. Mainly just the old war veterans who hate the Japanese now.
Ah, the original will always be good but this might also be an exception, I wish they sounded a lot less younger though, in this one they sound like a 30-40 year old. I agree with ca4good, wish we can watch movies with subtitles
It's a Western setting with non-Japanese characters.
You can watch with subtitles, buy it from Japan, the official Japanese release has English subtitles. I have had this on BD for a while now, bought it from amazon.jp
The US release will have both the sub and dub, if you don't know and have been living under a rock.
I suppose I should wander out of my rock from time to time >.> thank you for the info lol
I so want to watch this movie >.<
yea if your on CR... your not here for Dubs, do yourself a favor and watch it subbed..
Very much so this ^
iil be seeing this sub at the ritz movie theater in philly
I'm going into Sydney to see it subbed lol.
Have not heard either their voices but interesting how Disney is using one of their Disney Channel actress for Arrittey stead of keeping Saoirse Ronan who played the main role in Hanna.
Wait...they re-dubbed it into British English, and then they re-dubbed it again into American English? That seems kind of unnecessary, especially since the original novel is by a British author...
Fuwah, it sounds to American. But hey, that's just me.
SCREW THIS DUB!! ALL ABOUT THAT SUB
i would love to watch this subbed, but the only way i can get any of my friends to watch this stuff with me is if its dubbed...
I wannaaa watch... XD
i remember the borrowers when i was a kid lol
It's a BRITISH story. So enough with the racial inuendo. There will always be people who cannot read English well enough to enjoy Subs. Some because they're the age this story is aimed for and some because English (and Japanese) are not their native language. For example, I have an Isreali friend who preferes Dubs because then he can enjoy the art and not have to try to mentally translate the language he's reading. Some of us just like to occasionally do other things (knit, fold laundry etc) while watching anime.

I prefere Subs, to hear the skills of the actors, but there is a place for Dubs. This is true, no matter what the original language was. I would much rather see well dubbed than badly subbed. So, I can appreciate that Disney really puts an effort into translating and voice casting their Studio Ghibli releases. Even if I do have to wait for them.
Based on this preview, I'm happy with everyone's performance but David Henry's...
Going to see a screening of this on Valentine's Day. Whoo.
ugh stupid dub
I'd love to get my paws on the British dub. Since it is a British setting, to me it makes more sense to simply release the British dub in the U.S., rather than go to the trouble of re-recording everything.

That, and I enjoy listening to a form of English that isn't as hard on the ears as what passes for my native language where I live.
hahahaha the freaking kids from the disney channel are doing the voices in this move
I knew I saw this somewhere...
I love this movie <3 Hayao Miyazaki has never failed to impress me, and the dubs are always superb.
The Disney dubs have never failed me yet. ^_^ high hopes here
Agreed! ^_^ Disney doesn't have bad dubs in my opinion. I liked Sophie's voice in Howl's Moving Castle
News to me. Looks cute.

I hope they don't pursue a relationship. No amount of stitches could repair the damage that would be done.
the current eng dub is better than thiss
I cant wait to see this movie it looks awsome! :D
this is why dubs should not be made. they just cant pick good voice actors like Japanese do. Never gonna watch it till I get dvd subs.
Personally I'd rather watch the US dub than the UK dub and this is coming from someone who is from the UK. I think Disney has done well with all the other Ghibli films and the UK isn't really known for dubbing so I find it strange that they decided to with Arrietty as the US dubs most anime.
