"Madoka Magica" Battles "Spartacus" to Top Italy's DVD Sales Charts

"Madoka" starts on Italian entertainment public broadcasting channel this week

On February 5th, the morning anime block on Rai4, the entertainment channel on Italy's state owned TV broadcaster, begins running Puella Magi Madoka Magica. In the week leading up to this, the series' three-volume DVD release began a brutal war for the top of Amazon Italy's DVD sales charts against another foreign import—Starz's bloody historical drama, Spartacus.


All three volumes of the release chart, with Madoka Magica and Spartacus swapping the top spot. The series sells for 41 euros a volume ($54), as compared to the $94.98 North American DVD/Blu-ray SRP.
