VIDEO: Square Enix Resurrects "True Crime: HK" with "Sleeping Dogs"

"True Crime: Hong Kong" resurfaces, takes on the Triads later this year

It looks like the game previously known as True Crime: Hong Kong—which former publisher Activision cancelled—has been rescued by Square Enix. Now known as Sleeping Dogs, the announcement of the Hong Kong Triad action game comes with the intense live-action trailer below.

Sleeping Dogs follows Wei Shen, an undercover cop tasked with taking down the deadly Hong Kong Triad gang from the inside. Developed by United Front Games in partnership with Square Enix London Studios, Sleeping Dogs' title change has less to do with a fresh start and more to do with Square Enix not having the rights to the True Crime brand.

Scheduled for the second half of 2012, Sleeping Dogs could be one to watch out for if the kick-ass trailer is even a remote indication of the action to come.
