Sony Details PSP to Vita Game Transfers

Tutorial follows confirmation of no UMD Passport service in the US

Following yesterday's confirmation of no UMD Passport in the US, Sony's Playstation Blog has detailed how PSP game transfers to the Vita will work ahead of the portable consoles launch later this month. The tutorial confirms that PSP games can be purchased directly from the Vita via the corresponding storefront over Wi-Fi or if they are already purchased and stored on the PS3, they can be redownloaded to the Vita from the console at no additional charge.

i know i'll prolly buy one of these, i just wish i could copy my UMD's to it too :/
thats a pretty decent selection of older games there, but what's "od of War"?
They meant Rod of War. The life and times of Rod Stewart.
Part 2 of "God of War: Chains of Olympus G" obviously.
well at least corpse party is on the list since it's one of the few digital games I do own.
Most of the games I own aren't even on the freakin list.
opposite for me.. i own 90% on the list.
For me I have a dozen on and a dozen (see below) not on the list. My top 2 games are not on the list but are popular enough that I have hope. Almost all my RPGs like Persona, Final Fantasy, Lunar and Ys did make the list, so my Vita will be a RPG machine.
I have a Vita 1st edition bundle reserved at GameStop, but I'm changing to the Launch bundle, as it comes with a larger memory card and I don't care for the case or the game.
Agreed, 4GB is enough for a couple of games, and rumor has it that the PSN versions of games are cheaper. I also preordered the 32GB card since they did run out in Japan at launch although I wish they would have released a 64GB card even if it ran closer to $200.

is all i needed to know =D. i never bought any of the games seeing how my psp had cfw. but with my vita i will do no wrong and buy the games i loved to death and that list will carry on what i love <3.

my question is now, are all those games able to be bought over the PSN and played on the Vita?
Wow no Kill Zone, Little Big Planet, Valkyria II, Pixel Junk Monsters, Loco Roco, Jeanne D'Arc, Patchwork Heroes, Savage Moon, Partapon 1&3, or Puzzle Quest. Granted I can easily fit these on my PSP's16GB card if I dump the rest of my games on my Vita's 32GB, so I will not need to swap games on and off my 2 systems, I still would love to see all my PSN titles on the OLED screen. Surprised about Kill Zone and LBP since many people own them from the 2 free game promo earlier this year. Valkyria and Jeanne D'Arc are both too awesome and are my favorite games along with the Patapon games for the PSP. I really hope to see this list grow over the next few months having invested in so many titles over the past few years.
Counting down the days until the Vita is released in Aus!!!
No Peace Walker?!? :( Bah!
Wish they would have just had the service, but I am waiting on this just like the 3DS.

I played a demo of it at a local retailer and it is beautiful (screen size, colors, touch control)...just too darn expensive when you factor in memory and such.
Wait? People were actually worried it wouldn't be backwards compatible with the digital copies of psp games? I know we get some head scratchers from Sony but they be dumb not to at least have so it can play those old games you downloaded.

Although now that this is confirmed the question is: what about all those PS1 games that had to be changed for the PSP?
I might actually but Vita if this is the case. The only reason I didn't pre-order are the games. There were only few games that are available before this and if you ask me they look crappy to me. *no offense intended*
I was all excited to buy a Vita at launch, but the closer we get the more disappointed I've become in the system. I don't download games, I only buy physical media so not having a way to play my UMD games on the Vita, even for a price like in Japan, is almost a deal killer in itself. Add on the way overpriced memory cards (I'll wait for a third party to cut the price in half) and no launch games that really interest me, and my excitement in the Vita has become DOA. I'll wait for a second gen version, I bet that one will have a mini HDMI out port like this one should have had.
