"Fire Emblem: Awakening" Makes You the Star

Fight side-by-side with the game's heroes as a character of your own design

Fire Emblem has always let you put your name into the game. Almost always, you're either an advisor or a strategist or some other behind-the-scenes character who won't actually be participating in battles.

Western gamers will get a chance to actually fight alongside their very mortal allies in the upcoming 3DS sequel, Fire Emblem: Awakening, with the My Class feature, last seen in the Japan-only Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. Players get to put together their own character, choosing a class and naming them, and will play a major part in the story with your falchion-wielding co-star Prince Crom.

While I don't think barbarians will be praying to your amazing tag-team of turn-based terror, I'm looking forward to building a really awesome axeman, because seriously, the games tend to give you like two axe-wielders, and one of them will inevitably die. Solid, portable turn-based strategy games are an obvious must-buy for me--what about you? What kind of class will your character be in Fire Emblem: Awakening?
