Star Wars 3D Collaborates with Japanese Ice Pop "Gari Gari Kun"

Promotion for the upcoming 3D theatrical release of Star Wars: Episode 1

"Gari Gari Kun" is one of most popular ice pop produced by the Japanese ice cream company Akagi Nyugyo. It was created in 1981 and now produce over 200 million products every year. In celebration of the release of Star Wars Episode 1 3D in Japan on March 16, they will start selling "Gari Gari Kun Rich: chocolate vanilla cookie" featuring the movie images on February 28.


The three limited packages feature Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, and the main villain of the movie, Darth Maul. And each taste of the ice pop represents; chocolate for "space", vanilla for "desert planet (Tatooine)", and cookie for "meteorites". Also it has a lottery to win an original "Star Wars x Gari Gari Kun" collaboration T-shirt. The retail price of the SW version "Gari Gari Kun Rich" is 126 yen (approximately US$1.60).
