New Yomiko from New "Read or Die" Manga "R.O.D. Rehabilitation" Previewed

Old Yomiko say hi to the new Yomiko

Back in October, it had been announced that a new R.O.D (Read or Die) project was in the works. It turns out that the new project is actually a new manga that starts in the April issue of SuperDash&Go which goes on sale February 25th in Japan. The manga is titled R.O.D. Rehabilitation and is written by series author Hideyuki Kurata of Studio Orphee with illustrations by Fuzichoko.

Below is the preview image that SuperDash&Go has posted to their main webpage, supposedly of the new Yomiko (ヨミコ), who is said not to be the Yomiko (読子) of old, and has undergone an image change and is now a much darker character:

Well, there goes a once great series... /sigh
Maybe not, remember when the 1st anime season started, everyone was on the good side to prevent the clones from wining big time. The 2nd season had the UK museum library division gone rogue against the world because of Joker's misguided belief that the world needed a new Mr. Gentleman cull the out of control liberalism and wrecked world economy run this world order. This new storyline force Readman stop being the naive female operative in the past and without two former partners Nancy and Donnie to support her.
Somehow I doubt a lack of naivety led to that outfit.
What the fudge is this?! Im not against some changes but this is to much they took her whole character away might as well just say it's a spin off featuring someone new.

I loved Yomiko and the paper sisters the way they where they dont need a dark edge..
What can they do to make her dark? She is a good natured person who tries to help everyone, even enemies. Her own organization turned evil, took her friends kid and turned him into an assassin, and she thinks she killed the man she loves. What now? Speaking of her love, why the glasses change? She is suppose to wear his glasses. That's why she is so protective of them. I also have no problem with a wardrobe change, but really? Why the scantily clad super heroine look? She never had time to comb her hair, but now she can keep it bleached white? Minor changes are fine, but if you change the core attributes you should just make a new character. Oh I know, make her not like books too! Oh wait, that was Anita who tried to hate books...
Whenever there's a lull between sequels, something vital is lost. Star Wars. Star Trek. Die Hard. Rocky. Rambo. Lethal Weapon. I can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

Oh. Parasite Eve.
Sonic the Hedgehog....
Prey 2....
Ruined an awesome shooter game.
I don't agree with the Die Hard one. Granted, none of the sequels are nearly as good as the first one, but they're still all good at the very least.
I was specifically referring to Die Hard 4. Lethal Weapon 4. Rambo ... 9. Rocky... 7. And so on. The movies that came out with a significant gap between the last sequel.

Even so, DH4, by itself, wasn't a terrible movie.
I'm excited for this I could be really cool
Yes, that outfit totally says librarian. Yeppers.
H-game librarian, yeah.
The article over at ANN reports:

While the editors say the manga features an eyeglasses-wearing Yomiko, "she is not the Yomiko from before"

I think that is literal; meaning it is another character with the same name.
Er, yea, I probably should make that clearer. The Japanese does imply it's a different character with the same name.
Like Bond. Only with paper.
Right, don't get this twisted, folks. Her name is Yomiko, I believe she is not THE SAME Yomiko.
A more recent article at ANN confirms her name isn't spelled with the same kanji (読魅子).
If this is so, then I could imagine this being a sort of a story about mistaken identity for those who are tracking The Paper. Either way, I can only hope to see those from the R.O.D. world to at least have supporting roles.
I LOVED the anime series---I'm hoping that this new manga series eventually gets an anime as well.
Bad Blood C flashbacks.... Why can't we just get a sequel, Read or Die was awesome.
Never watched/read any of the Read or Die series, but that girl looks like Amamiya from the PSYЯEN.
from PSYЯEN.*
That thing is not my Yomiko.
what the hell are they thinking she was better off looking the same. they are going to kill this series if they do this.
Change how the name's written all they want, there can only be one Yomiko. Maybe this one goes bad and the original shows up to show how it's done! :P
What so it's a new character? Are the Old characters coming back? O.O
Look at the difference (quantity) of clothing between the two. Disgusting. Oh Yes, this is the way to save anime and manga from it's decline. Idiots.
Sadly, many people respond to this tactic. Objectification of women is everywhere. Manga and anime tend to be especially sleazy and shameless about it. I'd love to be able to relate to and respect a single female character, but no-one has provided me with the opportunity. Instead, I get and endless sea of pornographic depictions of women with little to no character. In the end, it's wank material for some, and a bad training manual for everyone! Depressing stuff.
This isn't even pornographic or objectifying. You both are overreacting, as well as being ignorant.
But . . . but I *love* the klutzy, good-hearted Ms. Readman! It's part of the whole appeal that she is kind of naive and sheltered. I mean, she is a total bookworm, with her apartment filled with unruly stacks of books. This new Yomiko, however unconnected to the old one, doesn't look like the isolated, loveable, studiously obsessive Yomiko Readman. She looks hard to like, really.
I'm calling it now before it starts, SHE'S A CLONE!!!!
i liked the other Yomiko but i'm waiting to see what goes on with this one....
What Crap... I won't be reading that
Acoording to ANN it really is a different Yomiko character they even spell her name with different kanji. Also they say that the story starts with the declaration of the death of books so considering the series this side story is based onno wonder Yimiko would would be a darker character with her precious books dying out.
