VIDEO: Will Sega's maimai Revolutionize Rhythm Games?

Demo video shows off striking new tech

This year, Sega is aiming to bring the crowds back to Japan’s ailing game centers with maimai, an innovative new kind of rhythm game that looks like a cross between Dance Dance Revolution and a Maytag washing machine.

DigInfo, who normally covers things like Japanese robotics and 3D displays, was sufficiently impressed by the game’s integration with Nico Nico Douga and a tracking camera to produce this video report, helpfully subtitled in English.

maimai is set to drop in Japan this July and an overseas launch is planned as well. Will you want to ditch DDR and line up to play it when it appears at your local anime con?
