Dinosaur Manga "Gon" Reserialized, Gets Anime

Masashi Tanaka's wordless manga returns

Gon could be considered the best and worst introductory manga at the same time. On the one hand, it has no words at all, so you don't have to worry about whether you understand Japanese and no one had to wrestle with a translation, but on the other hand, most manga do have words, so it's pretty atypical of the art form! This unique story is not only getting serialized again after a 10 year hiatus, but starting in April it will become a CG anime as well.

Gon was created by Masashi Tanaka and serialized in Morning from 1991 to 2002. It won an Excellence prize in the manga category of the Japan Media Arts Festival in 1998. The dino's adventures in nature return in Monthly Afternoon, the same magazine which announced the CG animation, starting next month (when the May issue goes on sale March 24th).

No further details on the anime have been released, but we imagine there will not be too many cast announcements...
