Earlier in the week, NeoGAF forum poster cednym showed off a promotional image of the supposedly-upcoming Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3X, promising 8 new characters and added balance tweaks to the already substantial boost of last November's Ultimate upgrade.
Claiming to have a source who worked at GameStop, further information on UMvC3X stated that it would initially be released as DLC on July 3rd for $14.99, and as a packaged disc on July 24th for $39.99 (pricing and release-stagger mirroring the Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition upgrade).

Naturally, Capcom has responded, with VP Christian Svennson simply commenting:
"Just got back from GDC so I’ll make this short: that is completely fake."
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 producer Ryota Niitsuma, who has commented on wanting to put even more characters in the game, also stated:
"The DLC costumes are out, and for now that is all."
For the final blow, Capcom Community Manager and crosshand play specialist Seth Killian added:
"Sorry guys, <3 photoshop, but no UMVC3x coming from Capcom."
Yeah, that's about the long and short of it. I mean, I really liked Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but it's not due for an update (or major balance-patching) for a long while. Seeing what Kusoru can do in this game (and he's probably not even playing seriously) is a real shot in the arm for the community.
While I wouldn't mind getting a few more DLC characters like Jill or Shuma-Gorath (who are both very fun to use if not particularly viable in matches), a full-on upgrade is a little too much to ask at this point. What do you think? When should full-disc upgrades come out for fighters, or should it all just be done through DLC now, like Capcom is attempting to do with Street Fighter X Tekken?
