One of the truly underrated shining stars of 2011 was El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, a truly beautiful game that absolutely nobody bought. Yes, I'm guilty as well--I waited until it hit the bargain bin, despite Joseph Luster's glowing recommendation.
However, I've learned my lesson and eagerly await more of the stylish, smart combat of the original that really showed off what my TV was capable of in terms of visuals, since a sequel is on the way.
Not much has been revealed at the official site for the new El Shaddai--just this promo art showing a variety of warriors with the tagline "Who is the mightiest angel that God speaks of?" Well, I know I'm definitely excited for this--the first game was a riff on Saint Seiya's "superpowered armor" feel, borrowing from Christian Biblical apocrypha (mainly the Book of Enoch). What about you? Did you enjoy El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, or did you pass on it?
