This year's Manga Taishō award results were announced yesterday at a ceremony in Tokyo and Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon took the prize.

The story follows Yuugo Hachiken, who loses confidence in his academic abilities amidst the competition and enrolls in an agriculture high school pretty much just to get away from his family. Hiromu Arakawa is most well known for Fullmetal Alchemist, which won a Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003.
The selection committee read all 15 finalists and was tasked with ranking their top three. Points were awarded based on these decisions (3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd) and the full tally result is as follows:
