Ahead of this year's edition of the San Diego Comic-Con, the committee behind the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards has announced its slate of nominees for this year, with general voting being opened up to industry and retailers in the middle of the month. Of particular relevance to many manga fans this year are nominations for work published by Viz Media, Fantagraphics, Vertical Inc., NBM and Drawn and Quarterly making the shortlist of nominees.

The list of titles nominated under the Best U.S. Edition of International Material Asia Category is as follows:

Best U.S. Edition of International Material - Asia
A Bride’s Story, by Kaoru Mori (Yen Press)
Drops of God, by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto (Vertical)
Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths, by Shigeru Mizuki (Drawn & Quarterly)
Saturn Apartments, vols. 3-4, by Hisae Iwaoka (VIZ Media)
Stargazing Dog, by Takashi Murakami (NBM)
Wandering Son, vol. 1, by Shimura Takako (Fantagraphics)

In addition, under the Best Continuing Series category; Naoki Urasawa’s 20th Century Boys, by Naoki Urasawa (VIZ Media) is under consideration for the award.

After voting is complete and tabulated, winners will be announced on July 13th in a gala event during Comic-Con.

Have any of you read the books that were nominated and if so, what did you think? I'm split between A Bride's Story and Drops of God myself.
