While Europe has had an original Power Rangers comic strip for over a decade, America is about to get its first since a 1997 Acclaim one-shot. Graphic novel publisher NBM, which recently dipped its toes into Japanese pop culture with a translation of Hirohiko Araki's Rohan au Louvre, is readying a series of books based on the Super Samurai season, set to be released through their Papercutz imprint.
The Power Rangers graphic novels will feature original stories rather than adapting the episodes running on Nickelodeon. Power Rangers Super Samurai Vol 01 Memory Short is planned as a 50-page book, hitting in both hard cover and soft cover on June 27th. Stefan Petrucha, who has written Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew graphic novels for Papercutz, as well as parodies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Harry Potter, is credited as author.
