The last casting news we got for Spike Lee's take on Oldboy had the other Olsen sister, Elizabeth Olsen, in talks to play the film's female lead. Now we're back to the villain role, which has been offered to District 9 star Sharlto Copley.
The role was previously offered to The King's Speech's Colin Firth, as well as Clive Owen (Children of Men, Sin City). Oldboy's villain plays a key part in the mystery behind the protagonist (No Country for Old Men's Josh Brolin) being imprisoned for 15 years, an incident Elizabeth Olsen will help investigate as a caseworker.
Oldboy is based on the manga by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi. It was previously adapted into the 2003 Korean film by director Park Chan-wook (Joint Security Area, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance).
