This weekend was supposed to mark the release of Bandai's virtual critter for a post-Tamagotchi world, but the iPhone-faced Smart Pet has been delayed to June 16th. While Bandai couldn't get the robot dogs into shops this week, they have pushed out a new hype video sans release date.
A robot dog base will sell for ¥6,500 (US $78). This attaches to an iPhone, which will serve as the dog's face. Sony boasts that it will have over 100 expressions. In addition to accepting touchscreen and voice input, it will also use the phone's camera to watch for gesture commands.
