VIDEO: "Vegirhythm" Promotes Healthy Eating With Crazy Idol Dance Moves

"Team Perfume" supplies choreography

“Ok, so what’s this,” you ask when confronted with the curious sight of four young Japanese girls dancing like maniacs in the vegetable section of the local supermarket…

We recommend: Don’t ask too many questions (yet), just watch the video for “Vegirhythm” the new song by Vegigirls and Mayuko Yuki...

Ok, so what’s the hood? First of all, the song and video come courtesy of Warner Music Japan, home of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu of PONPONPON fame, meaning that someone here knows the value of an attention grabbing video...

Second, the choreography team behind electro-idol sensations Perfume are responsible for the surprisingly impressive dance moves. Which is probably why it's so awesome.

Lastly, the video has created a fair amount of buzz on the Japanese net since debuting on YouTube yesterday. So we post it here for your consideration.

Some questions remain: Who are the Vegigirls? And will this Okinawan-sounding song have a life beyond the supermarket? And will you be imitating their bonkers dance moves at the next local anime con?

We really can’t say for sure where this story is going, so file under: "developing."
