Those who have already clocked in countless hours on previous Elder Scrolls games like Oblivion and Skyrim might just shriek in horror at Bethesda's latest announcement. The company is finally taking the RPG franchise massively multiplayer with The Elder Scrolls Online.
Elder Scrolls Online is being developed by Zenimax Online Studios for both PC and Mac, and will allow players to scour the continent of Tamriel 1,000 years prior to the events of Elder Scrolls V. According to Game Informer—which has the title locked as its June 2012 cover story—players will be able to choose from three factions, do battle with other players in the province of Cyrodiil, and ultimately contest all for the Emperor's throne.
Bethesda is looking at a 2013 launch on both platforms for The Elder Scrolls Online, and more details will be revealed in the next Game Informer magazine. Any Elder Scrolls fans looking forward to this potentially colossal time-sink?
