AKB48’s General Election to be Streamed on Google+

Fans encouraged to participate by giving a Google "+1" during moving moments

On June 6th, Atsuko Maeda will be graduating out of pop mega-group AKB48, and a new girl will be selected top fan favorite in a "general election." In addition to Fuji TV's live broadcast special from 7:00~9:09pm (Japanese time), the event will be streamed at www.akb48plus.com

Fans will also be able to catch it with English subtitles on Google+, and are encouraged give a “+1” when they feel deeply moved. A graphic will chart the results live.

The winner will give her speech at 11:00pm on Google+ and AKB48’s Official YouTube Channel. If she's under 18, her speech will be delivered from her home via the telephone.

Favorites are selected via fan voting, with ballets made available to purchasers of AKB48's latest single: "Manatsu no Sounds Good!", which sold 1.61 million copies in its first week. A second selection will be made via rock-paper-scissors tournament.
