If you miss the Gintama anime, this summer's Binbō-gami ga! anime looks like a promising replacement irreverent comedy. The folks at Sunrise, Gintama director Yoichi Fujita, and Bleach writer Kento Shimoyama are adapting Yoshiaki Sukeno's light novels about a Binbo-gami's (God of Poverty) attempt to take out a lucky girl who is effectively a happiness vampire.
Naruto Shippuuden the Movie: Bonds' Kenji Tanabe steps up to provide character design and animation direction. The opening theme will be "Make My Day!" by Piko, while Happy Birthday's "Koi Boudou" will be the ending.
The vampirically lucky Ichiko Sakura is played by Kana Hanazawa (Mayuri Shiina from Steins;Gate, Nadeko Sengoku from Bake/Nisemonogatari).
Momiji, the titular God of Poverty, played by Yumi Uchiyama (Young and Me's young Kaname Tsukahara).
Classmate Keita Tsuwabuki, voiced by Kouki Uchimiya (Soul Eater's Soul Eater, tsuritama's Natsuki Usami, You and Me's Yuuta Asaba).
Transfer student Ranmaru Rindō, voiced by Haruka Tomatsu (Ichika Takatsuki in Ano Natsu de Matteru, Mashu in C).
Hiro Shimono (World God Only Knows' Keima Katsuragi) plays a dog god.
Yoshihisa Kawahara as exorcist monk Bobby.
