VIDEO: First Promo For French "Mysterious Cities of Gold" Anime Sequel

Adventures of Esteban, Zia, Tao, Sancho, Pedro and Mendoza continue in new season

Children of the sun... and the 80's, there's now video evidence that the animated sequel to Studio Pierrot (Naruto) and Dic's (Inspector Gadget) classic The Mysterious Cities of Gold is actually happening.

Originally running in Japan in 1982, The Mysterious Cities of Gold aired in the US in the 1980's on Nickelodeon and NBC. The new series promises to pick up where the classic left off.

This time Esteban, Zia, Tao, and the rest of the gang actually end up leaving South America and heading to China and Japan because who knows where the other six Cities of Gold could be? Each episode (of a supposedly planned three seasons) will also contain a mini-documentary so you can learn some facts behind the places the characters visit in the show. Jean Chalopin, Mitsuru Kaneko, and Bernard Deyriès from the original series pitched in on the new French production (with animation by Blue Spirit).
