Seibu Lions Baseball Team Offer New Kimba T-Shirts

The return of Osamu Tezuka lions, used as pro-baseball team's mascot until 2008

Between 1978 and 2008, the official mascot of Japan's pro-baseball Pacific League's Saitama Seibu Lions was Panja (Caesar in English versions), the father of Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor Leo (aka Kimba the White Lion of Lion King plagiarism accusations fame).


The Lions have begun offering fans who miss Panja and Leo a new set of t-shirts.


T-shirts with no number or player numbers 1 (Kuriyama, Takumi), 3 (Nakajima, Hiroyuki), 7 (Kataoka, Yasuyuki), 11 (Kishi, Takayuki), 13 (Nishiguchi, Fumiya, 18 (Wakui, Hideaki), and 60 (Nakamura, Takeya) are being offered for ¥3,150 ($40) each.
