Saban and Konami Duel Over 4Kids' "Yu-Gi-Oh!" Assets

Konami emerges as a second bidder for Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction of 4Kids' Yu-Gi-Oh! assets

In early May, Saban (of Power Rangers fame) subsidiary Kidsco became the stalking horse bidder on a Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction of 4Kids' Yu-Gi-Oh! assets. Going into the June 5th auction, that was complicated by the emergence of Konami’s indirect subsidiary 4K Acquisition Corp as a second candidate.

After the Saban bid set the initial price at $10 million, they and Konami made several offers during a process that began on June 5th. Bidding is currently adjourned to allow the parties to consider working on a joint deal for dividing the rights, but will restart if an arrangement is not agreed upon. Saban and Konami's bidders have agreed that their current offers will stand until July 31st.
