The buck wild weekend that was Anime Expo 2012 may be fading off into the distance, but Crunchyroll has yet another new streaming anime announcement to make...
The historical anime UTAKOI, based on the josei manga by Kei Sugita, will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on Monday July 2, at 10:00 pm PDT for its premium members, with its free members able to view it one week after initial site broadcast.
“UTAKOI is a historical romance story based on Ogura Hyakunin Isshu's interpretation of a collection of 100 romance poems that are used in traditional Japanese karuta card/memory game. UTAKOI is a very liberal interpretation of the Hyakunin Isshu anthology of poems featuring 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets such as The Tale of Genji's Murasaki Shikibu. However this romantic – both in story and artistic design – series starts its focus with some twists and turns centered around the love between Fujiwara and her romantic interest Ariwara…”
UTAKOI will be available to Crunchyroll’s audience in the following territories: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
