Megumi Hayashibara to Play Narrator in "God Warrior Attacks Tokyo"

Planned by Hideaki Anno and directed by Shinji Higuchi

A famous voice actress Megumi Hayashibara will narrate Studio Ghibli's new live-action short God Warrior Attacks Tokyo. The tokusatsu film is planned by Hideaki Anno (Gunbuster, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, Neon Genesis Evangelion) and directed by Shinji Higuchi (The Sinking of Japan, Kakushi Toride no San-Akunin: The Last Princess). Hayashibara is well-known, of course, for her role as Rei Ayanami in the Evangelion series which Anno has directed and Higuchi worked as storyboard artist. She also provided her voice for Anno's two live action films Love & Pop (1998) and Shiki-Jitsu (2000).

God Warrior Attacks Tokyo features Kyoshinhei (giant god warrior) from Hayao Miyazaki's classic series Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It will be screened at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo from July 10 to October 8, as part of an exhibition entitled "Hideaki Anno's Tokusatsu Museum"

focusing on the history of Japanese special effects/tokusatsu.
