Hatsune Miku Figures Raised Millions of Yen for Quake Relief

Good Smile Company wraps up Cheerful Japan! project with $3 million quake relief donation

Over the past year, the figures folks at Good Smile Company have released a host of character goods featuring Kurisu Makise and Mayuri Shiina from Steins;GateGhost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's Tachikoma and of course Hatsune Miku, with proceeds going to quake relief charity. They've now announced that over 239 million yen ($3 million) was raised by this Cheerful Japan! project.

Wrapping up their year long initiative, Good Smile Company President Takanori Aki told The Asahi Shimbun that GSC had plenty of partners to thank.

"We would not have been able to deliver more than 200 million yen in relief donations to municipalities in the quake-hit areas and the Japanese Red Cross Society without the help of business partners who accommodated our unreasonable requests and the general public."

Beyond the sales of figures such as the pictured Miku Hatsune : Cheerful Ver., which sold for 10000yen ($125) with 2000yen ($25) going to charity, fundraisers included a Hatsune Miku mosaic at the Wonderful Hobby Life for You!! 15 figures event, with one hundred yen donated for each image.
