57-year-old Manga Shoplifter Has Only 27 Yen in His Pocket

"I wanted to read manga."

The Kanazawa Nishi station of Ishikawa Prefectural Police arrested a 57-year-old unemployed man with no fixed abode on suspicion of theft on July 13. According to the police announcement, the suspect was trying to steal two manga books (selling price: 1,120 yen/US$14.15) at the bookstore in Kanazawa-city around 6:30 pm of the day. A security guard of the store found and caught him. The suspect had only 27 yen (roughly 34 cents) with him when he was arrested by the police. He has admitted his guilt and said, "I wanted to read manga." Do you sympathize with this 57-year-old-guy?
