Discotek Media Officially Announces "Golden Boy" Anime License

Complete series due out November 6 on 2 DVDs

Discotek's rescue of the Golden Boy license was outed earlier thanks to a listing on the Alternative Distribution Alliance, but now the distributor has officially announced the acquisition via Facebook. Golden Boy is due out as a 2-DVD complete series set, collecting all six OVA episodes, on November 6.

Their release sounds pretty close to the last ADV release, and will contain both the (awesome) English dub and the Japanese version with English subtitles. If you don't already own it or, even more urgent, have never SEEN it, Golden Boy is a classic 1995 OVA based on the seinen manga by Tetsuya Egawa, directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Roujin Z, Blood: The Last Vampire). Despite the pervy nature of free-spirited protagonist Kintaro Oe's tale, Golden Boy might just be the most inspirational STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! series of all time.
