"Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition" No Longer Just a Rumor

HD versions scheduled for November 1 release in Japan

Last week we posted a rumor concerning HD versions of Yakuza and Yakuza 2, which were outed via a quickly-removed Sega listing. Well, according to leaks of this week's issue of gaming mag Famitsu, Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition is scheduled for a November 1 Japanese release on PlayStation 3 for ¥5,290 (about $67).

Other enhancements to the first two PS2 Yakuza (Ryu ga Gotoku) games include reduced load times, the ability to manage your item box in the phone booth, and menu check marks for food you've consumed. Pre-orders will net players a clear file, and dummy packaging that mirrors the original box art in the style of PS3 games.

Hopefully we'll know even more about the games when Sega makes an official announcement. Fingers crossed that this HD collection eventually sees light outside of Japan, but let's not get our hopes too high.
