A Look at Hakone's Evangelion Souvenir Shop

Eva-ya shop offers onsen tourists traditional item inspired merchandise

By now, you've probably seen the giant Evangelion Rei slide, and you might have read reference to how the Shiodome, Tokyo site is associated with the third Evangelion store. The first is famous Evangelion Store Tokyo-01 in Harajuku. The newly opened second is Eva-ya, a quaint souvenir shop at Hakone-Yumoto Station on the Hakone Tozan Line mountain railway.

Hakone, which as used as background references in the anime,  is a tourist destination, known for its onsen hot springs, and the Evangelion merch at the train station was tailored to locale and its traditional spirit. Exclusive items include  teacups, wood plates and netsuke. The permanent shop will also offer concessions   such as traditional sweets, NERV baked goods and LCL drink soda

Previously, the local tourism board produced Evangelion maps of the area. A temporary Evangelion classroom was also erected in the area last year along with a showcase of theme hybrid cars.
