"Summer Wars" Rerun Gets More Than 7,800,000 Tweets in Japan

Defeating Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro"

Mamoru Hosoda's anime film Summer Wars was broadcasted on NTV's "Friday Roadshow!" block on July 20 for the second time since August of 2010, following Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away on July 6 and My Neighbor Totoro on July 13. According to BIGLOBE's "Twipple Trend" service, Japanese users on Twitter posted messages about the film more than 7,800,000 times during the broadcasting time, 9:00 to 10:54 pm. Peak posting time was around 22:50, the climax of the story. The "hottest" word was "Koi-Koi", a Hanafuda card game played by the characters in the film and the call used in the game. Average number of the tweets per five minutes was about 341,000, which was more than the records of Spirited Away (336,000) and My Neighbor Totoro (340,000).
