After telling a story about teens in his recent romance musical adaptation of period manga For Love's Sake (Ai To Makoto), prolific director Takashi Miike is following the age group into darker territory with his new adaptation of Yusuke Kishi's novel about a pyschopath teacher who starts solving a school's problems by murdering its students, Lesson of the Evil (Aku no Kyoten).
Sukiyaki Western Django star Hideaki Ito has been cast as the lead.
The movie will be playing at the Venice Film Festival in August ahead of its Japanese opening.
Yusuke Kishi's From the New World is being adapted into an anime by A-1 Pictures. His The Crimson Labyrinth was released in North America by Vertical.
