Media Blasters Rescues "Jubei-Chan" Anime License

Former Bandai license, and possibly Geneon's follow-up, making it back to North America

Before there was Madoka Magica, there was the magical girl unpleasantness of Akitaro Daichi's (Fruits Basket, Kodocha, Poyopoyo) 1999 Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch, about a modern girl who transforms with the spirit of famed swordsman Jubei Yagyu and finds it a wholly undesirable experience.

The well-regarded Bandai Entertainment release is now making it back to the US courtesy of Media Blasters.

MB stated:

At Otakon today and setup is finished and as promised we will be giving more updates so while I do not have access to the artwork I am happy to announce that later this year we will be releasing a full boxset of Jubei Chan. We will continue with classics from Anime Past and soon to annouce Anime Current and Future also.

At this time, it's unclear whether they also have Jubei-Chan 2: The Counter Attack of Siberia Yagyu, which was released in North America by Geneon.

From the latter series...
