FUNimation Licenses "Aquarion EVOL" Anime

Satelight's Otakon panel reveals license of mecha series

A few cool things went down at this morning's Otakon panel for anime studio Satelight. In addition to showing unused, never-screened footage created for Macross F pachislot commercials, they revealed FUNimation's acquisition of streaming rights for the Aquarion EVOL anime.

Aquarion EVOL—featuring Shoji Kawamori (Macross, Spring and Chaos, Escaflowne) as chief director and Yusuke Yamamoto (Sgt. Frog, Welcome to the NHK) as director, with Mari Okada (Gosick, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) on series composition—is set 12,000 years after the original Aquarion, and follows a new set of pilots who set out to fight the Abductors.

Hopefully more info will come from the FUNimation panel later today!
