Mana Ashida Gets a Solo Concert

The 8-year old performing prodigy goes solo.

Japan is in love with 8-year-old "talent" sensation, Mana Ashida. She won the Japanese academy award for best newcomer in 2010, the final episode of her Fuji TV series Marumo no Okite reached a surprising (for recent ratings) near 24%, and her song (sung with Fuku Suzuki) Maru Maru Mori Mori went to #2 on the charts.

She has both acting and singing chops along with stage presence, and now she's going to star in her own live, solo concert. The concert, Winter Wonderland, will be held just after Christmas (Dec. 27th) of this year at the Shinagawa Cultural Center, just steps away from the Japan Rail Ooi-machi Station. The concert is reported to have a theme of "dreams and future," and it should include such songs as the Yumi Matsutoya (aka Yuming)-penned hit Beautiful Rain.

She also has a connection to anime and manga starring in the live action movie of Bunny Drop, voicing the character of Annie in the anime movie Magic Treehouse, and singing the theme song for Jewelpet Kira Deco.
