Back during the Comic-Con announcement regarding upcoming Marvel Studios projects, I hoped for more supernatural characters in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World. While there's no word of Enchantress, it has been confirmed that Chris Hemsworth's Thor will be taking on the dark elf forces of Malekith the Accursed, played by Christopher Eccleston--the ninth Doctor from Doctor Who and Destro from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
Malekith, equipped with his goofy catch-phrase that I really hope Eccleston gets to say
While he's quite a bit goofier-looking than Loki, I can guarantee that Malekith will put up a better fight than Thor's little brother.
After rumors of The Hurt Locker director Kate Beglow taking the director's chair were debunked, Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor will be directing Thor's adventures through the realm of Svartalfheim, home of Malekith's dark elves.
See what I mean?
Christopher Eccleston is a pretty great actor, and I think he can make Malekith more than a one-note villain--he was probably the only actual good part of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. What do you think? Will Eccleston and Taylor be able to make Thor: The Dark World as solid as the previous film?
