Here's Your Latest Look at "Kamen Rider Wizard"

Pretty actors suit up for potentially dark new Kamen Rider series this September

Following the conclusion of the endearingly campy Kamen Rider Fourze,  the venerable tokusatsu series goes someplace dark for its 23rd entry. Set to premiere September 2nd, Kamen Rider Wizard takes Junon fashion magazine contest winner Shunya Shiraishi and casts him into a world of Type-Moon like magic and Berserk like human sacrifice.

In the original 1971 Kamen Rider tokusatsu TV series, biochemistry student Takeshi Hongo was able to escape the evil organization known as Shocker's attempt to turn him into a cyborg agent. Freed before his will and conscience were scheduled to be removed, Hongo turns his ability to undergo a henshin (transformation) into the superpowered Kamen Rider 1 against his would-be masters.

Returning to something like that original premise, Kamen Rider Wizard is Souma Haruto (played by Shunya Shiraishi), a man who survived an incident involving a ceremony during a solar eclipse. A white wizard then gives the wrong man the WizarDriver, which allows him to transform into  Kamen Rider Wizard and battle the evil Phantoms summoned by the eclipse ceremony.

The particular accessory for this Rider is apparently his magical rings. Wizard has four primary ones corresponding to Flame, Hurricane, Water and Land elements. These allow him to use different a corresponding elemental style and cast hand gesture spells.

A "Rider Kick" Ring allows Wizard to perform his version of the Kamen Rider Kick... "Kick Strike!"

A Connect ring gives Wizard access to the WizardSwordGun.

And, of course sound effects are important in Kamen Rider, so here's what the WizaSwordGun sounds like:

And, he wouldn't a Kamen Rider without his ride:

Two of the antagonist leadership Executive Phantoms are Yuugo, played by Atsumi Kanno, and Misa, played by Erina Nakayama.

In the series, Ghouls are the cannon fodder minions, Apparitions are monsters of the week and Phantoms are head baddies that disguise themselves as humans.

Medusa/Misa is the female leader of the Phantoms. She has the ability to see into human hearts and recognize who might serve as a source of energy for the Apparitions, which feed on human despair .

Yuugo/Phoenix is the male leader. He has the power to regenerate in battle.

Shojiro Nakazawa (Magiranger, Gekiranger, Shinkenger, Gokaiger) will be directing Kamen Rider Wizard, with Kida Tsuyoshi (first half of Kamen Rider Hibiki) on the scripts. Taakaki Utsunomiya (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) produces.
