"Boys Be..." Grows Up in a New Manga

The shonen romance manga gets a seinen version

The long-time popular romance manga series, Boys Be…, written by Masahiro Itabashi and illustrated by Hiroyuki Tamakoshi, has just published the first installment of its new "season," Boys Be… ~Adult Season~ in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine, Evening. The "Door Page" illustration is featured below.

Reportedly, the first installment is about a couple who meet through their common interest in Indian curry. This first installment is featured in Kodansha's Evening magazine Issue 17 that was released on August 11th.

Boys Be... started out as a shonen romance series in Kodansha's top weekly manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Magazine. The original series was adapted into a 13 episode anime in 2000. In 2009, another Boys Be... series called Boys Be... Next Season ran in Shonen Magazine's monthly sister magazine, Magazine Special. TokyoPop published the Boys Be... manga in the U.S., but the series was cut short when Kodansha broke ties with TokyoPop (prior to TokyoPop's closure). The anime series were licensed for English by The Right Stuff.
