Singer/anime voice actress Nana Mizuki (Naruto's Hinata Hyuuga, Blood-C's Saya) will be expanding her resume this fall as the voice of heroine Katniss in the Japanese dub of dystopian death match Hunger Games. The character, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is the first lead Hollywood role that Mizuki has dubbed.
Hunger Games opens in Japanese theaters on September 28th.
This June, "TIME SPACE EP", the 27th CD single by Nana Mizuki, debuted at third on the latest Oricon's weekly CD single ranking. The CD is her 17th single to land in the weekly top 10. She now becomes the anime voice actress with the most top 10 singles in history by defeating Megumi Hayashibara's previous record, 16.
Especially with big action and effects blockbusters, the trend has been to screen more movies dubbed in Japanese. For more on the subject see here.
UPDATE: Katniss is Mizuki's first lead role and not her first Hollywood movie role. She previously voiced Agatha in Minority Report, Six in Ultraviolet, Sarah Hart in I Am Number Four.
