We know that some of you are big fans of Perfume, Japan’s reigning electro-pop idol unit par excellence. So we figured you should probably get a gander at the new video for the group’s latest single, entitled “Spending All My Time.”
The single was released on August 15th, but Perfume’s official YouTube channel is being pokey by only offering a short excerpt of the video itself. No worries, some other guy has uploaded the complete clip for your perusal. So it goes in Computer City...
The gossip behind the song says that since signing to Universal Music earlier this year, Perfume has new ambitions to market themselves internationally, and indeed the sound of this single is markedly different than their usual Yasutaka Nakata produced tunes (i.e. the song is in *English* and the girls are about 50% less auto-tuned than usual...). Is this a new direction for a group that might have actually needed one? Or a blatant attempt at appealing to a wider western audience?
