We’re only a few days away from the next J-POP Summit Festival, held annually here in San Francisco’s Japantown and put on by our pals at NEW PEOPLE. Some of you lucky guys will actually be there for this two-day extravaganza of fashion, film, food folks and fun on Sat/25-Sun/26. Others will be able to make the trip virtually thanks to a new Evangelion themed app for the iPhone that is being rolled out in tandem with the J-POP Summit Festival. DID WE MENTION IT'S FREE?!?!?
Says the official press release:
The EvaNavi San Francisco Voice Tour Guide is a fun English audio application designed for the iPhone® that incorporates aspects from the hit Evangelion 2.0 sci-fi anime property to guide users to 60 notable attractions around San Francisco.
Anime fans, tourists, and even local residents can get to know the City by the Bay in an entirely new way with a unique audio guide powered by the voice of Mari Makinami Illustrious (voiced in English by actress Trina Nishimura) of the famed EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE anime film.
Evangelion will be playing a big part of the J-POP Summit Festival this year, including an Evangelion Movie Night screening of Eva 1.11 and 2.22 at the New People Cinema, an Evangelion Pop-Up Museum, an Evangelion World Stamp Rally, and something really crazy called “Real Escape Game X Evangelion”.
If all that’s not enough, attendees at the festival will be able to enjoy live performances by music acts including Kylee, fashion shows from the likes of h.NAOTO and gyaru brand Liz Lisa, a Vocaloid Dance Contest, and food trucks galore. More info and details over at the J-pop Summit Festival website.
Now excuse me while I see if Mari Makinami Illustrious can navigate me to a big bowl of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco treat!
