"Lollipop Chainsaw" Becomes Grasshopper's Most Shipped Game

Suda51's latest action game ships over 700,000 units worldwide

With a game as out there as Lollipop Chainsaw, it's only natural that critical opinion was split, but there is one thing we can thankfully all agree on: It's officially developer Grasshopper Manufacture's most shipped game ever. According to a figure announced at the Lollipop Chainsaw Summer Appreciation Festival on Saturday, Lollipop Chainsaw shipped over 700,000 units worldwide.

Great news for fans of Suda51, as the stylistic creator hasn't always made a big splash with his games in the shipped units department. Shadows of the Damned, for instance, pushed a meager 24,000 units in its first week in the US, and ultimately underperformed all around. Pretty odd for a game that includes a weapon called the Big Boner, right?

Next up for Suda51, Grasshopper Manufacture, and Kadokawa Games is Killer is Dead, of which we've mostly seen a few bits of concept art. Suda shared the first promotional video for the game at the Lollipop Chainsaw event, and it reportedly features No More Heroes-esque cel shading with a more stylish twist, and a male protagonist with a robotic left arm and a katana gripped in his right hand. Killer is Dead hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime in 2013.

So, final verdict: You may have seen our review back in June, but what did you think of Lollipop Chainsaw?
