Anime studio Production I.G has announced cancellation of a production contract due to payment default. The work on the project as of June 30th has cost 144,358,000 yen ($1.8 million), which the studio hopes to recover.
Parent company IG Port has filed a warning on the potential effect on company profitability with the JASDAQ securities exchange.
While high profile work in Production I.G's immediate pipeline include the fall anime based on Robotics;Notes and Mass Effect, nothing officially points to either being the project in question or affected by the issue.
