VIDEO: Square-Enix's Luminous Engine Gets Real-Time Demo at SIGGRAPH 2012

Spectacular graphics seen in "Agni's Philosophy" tech demo shown in real-time

Some of you might be familiar with the term "bullshot," or an obviously-doctored promo screenshot. Tech demos can go under similar scrutiny, since they're really just video demos that show what an engine is capable of, and can easily be confused for pre-rendered footage.

This is definitely not the case with Square-Enix's new Luminous Engine, which was previously shown off at E3 with the Agni's Philosophy tech demo. Attendees of development conference SIGGRAPH 2012 got to see a real-time demo of the Luminous Engine, showing some insane changes to small details, which can be made on the fly.

Personally, I'm always more fond of cartoony, exaggerated art styles than super-realistic ones, but this does look very, very impressive. What do you think the Luminous Engine will do for future Square-Enix games?
