Hollywood "Metal Gear" Film Announced at 25th Anniversary Event

Avi Arad to produce film for Columbia Pictures

Here we go, get all your "aren't the Metal Gear Solid games already movies?" jokes ready to fire from the hip, because Hollywood is finally taking on the Metal Gear franchise. The announcement was made at today's Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event, with Avi Arad (Spider-Man, X-Men films and much more) producing the film for Columbia Pictures, and Sony Pictures Entertainment producing and distributing.

Hideo Kojima believes that if anyone can pull it off, it's Arad, who was also at the event. Arad promised to make a fantastic movie that's faithful to the series' spirit, but we'll have to wait and see if he and Columbia can deliver on such an ambitious project.

Do you think Hollywood can handle the madness of Kojima's Metal Gear? More on this as it develops!
