Xbox 360 "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" Canceled in Japan

No reason cited, but cancellation likely due to poor 360 sales in Japan

It may not be so surprising considering the tepid reception Microsoft's console has received in Japan ever since its launch, but Kojima Productions announced that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will no longer be coming out on Xbox 360 over there.

Fear not, though, because Konami confirmed with Eurogamer that Revengeance is still on target for 360 release outside of Japan. They didn't provide a reason for the Japanese cancelation, but judging from overall sales numbers, it's safe to draw some conclusions. Also, as Joystiq points out, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection hit Japanese charts at number five on PS3, while the 360 version didn't even crack the top 20.

Still, a bummer for the few in Japan who love their 360s and were looking forward to Platinum Games' rowdy Raiden adventure.
