Nintendo Confirms Wii U Region Lock

Nintendo continues long-running region locking policy

This will probably come as a surprise to few, but Nintendo will be region locking Wii U. Nintendo confirmed the matter to CVG, continuing a long-running policy that has pretty been in place with most of Nintendo's consoles since the very beginning.

Sony and Microsoft take a different approach, allowing individual publishers to decide whether or not their games will be region-locked. With Wii U, however, players will be confined to purchasing and playing games officially released in their region.

Sony's PS Vita is region free, and the last Nintendo product to be region-free was the DS, as 3DS is locked. Anyone bummed to get this official confirmation?
