GameStop Cuts Off Wii U Pre-Orders Due to Overwhelming Demand

Those who haven't pre-ordered should look elsewhere before November 18

Regardless of a somewhat steep asking price, it looks like Nintendo is set to strike again with Wii U, at least as far as the console's launch goes. GameStop has announced that it will no longer be taking pre-orders due to overwhelming demand, so folks still looking to put money down will have to try elsewhere.

While the retailer has stopped taking pre-orders, a special wait list has been created for members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards program. Members can put their names on the list without making a deposit, and GameStop will call them when the Wii U launches, giving them 48 hours to respond.

Odds of picking one up via that route are slim, but there's still plenty of time to figure out your plan of attack before the console's November 18 launch in North America. Anyone here already have a Wii U reserved?
