Saban Acquires "Digimon" Anime Franchise

New "Digimon Fusion" will debut at MIPCOM next month

Similar to how Saban Brands reclaimed the Power Ranger rights in 2010 after launching it in the '90s, Saban announced on Tuesday that the company has acquired rights to the Digimon anime franchise for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition encompasses rights to the property outside of Asia.

Saban, which introduced the franchise in America with Digimon Adventure in 1999, will debut new season Digimon Fusion at Cannes, France based TV and entertainment market MIPCOM in October. MarVista Entertainment will be handling distribution of the season, and the library of Digimon anime content, outside of Japan.
