Eva Pilot Named Customers Get Discounts in Monteroza Campaign

If Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami went out together, they'd get 77% percent off

To commemorate topping 1,950 stores, izakaya operator Monteroza is running a tie-up campaign with Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (called "Q" in Japan). Nine of the company's brands (Uotami, Shirokiya, Wara Wara, Tsuki no Utage, Sennen no Utage, Fukufuku-Ya, Teru, Waratteru Shokudou, and Monte Cafe) will feature special discounts and more through the end of November.

The first of five promotions began October 1st—if you happen to be lucky enough to have the same first or last name as one of the Eva pilots, the "Ayanami Discount" goes into effect. You can get up to 5,000 yen (about US $64.09) off your bill in the following ways:

Same first name: 15% off

Same last name: 30% off

Both names the same: 50% off

Everyone in your group has both names the same: 77% off

"If you're going to drink it, do it quick. If not..."

They're also putting original shochu on the menu. The 16,000 bottle limited run of Kakusei ("Awakening") is available until November 16th.

Also in the run up to the movie's release on the 17th, they'll be handing out 15,000 original coasters featuring memorable scenes from the previous movies, although minimum purchase of 2,100 yen (about US $26.90) per person applies. The six types are pictured above.

From the day the movie is released participating venues will be running a scratch game for parties who bring in a movie ticket stub (and hit that 2,100 yen per person). The prizes:

A: 9 original coasters (the six above plus three mystery designs)

B: Original poster (one features Gendo, one feastures Misato)

C: One of 16,000 bottles of original shochu Bousou ("Rampage")

D: Free medium size beer

*Anyone who plays gets stickers.

Do any of you guys qualify for the Ayanami Discount? I wonder if anyone will manage to get 77%...
